Punitive connects to my life because it means some sort of punishment and I am always getting in trouble. I usually get punished from grades or fighting with my brother. Usually my "punitive" is grounding or I can't go out that night. I wouldn't say I get in trouble a whole let, but I do have my fair share of punitives.

The word connects to the story Fallen because the girl is alwaus getting in trouble with the law. She was sent to a Juvy type home and was held prisioner. If she misbehaived in that dormitory place, she would have been severly punished. Although she did many things she wasn't suppose to, she was never caught in time to get punished. She even snuck out at one point and didn't get in trouble. While in the dormitory, she met two boys that were both punished for fighting over her.

"The Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) is the bedrock of military law. The UCMJ is a federal law, enacted by Congress. Articles 77 through 134 of the UCMJ are known as the "punitive articles," -- that is, specific offenses which, if violated, can result in punishment by court-martial." http://usmilitary.about.com/od/punitivearticles/a/mcm.htm
